Scammers using social media accounts claiming to be lottery winner Mavis Wanczyk

“Don’t fall for this scam. Don’t give personal information,” Michael Wilk, Chicopee Police public data officer, posted at the division’s social media accounts.

“Please, do not fall for a scam. Don’t fall for the ‘like and share and I’ll give you cash’ post. (These) are bait accounts. You will be lured in, and then when told you have ‘won’ you will have to give up your personal info., bank info., etc., and you will end up losing money, not gaining,” Wilk mentioned in an extra submit.
Some of the faux Instagram accounts have names akin to maviswanczyk7m, legit.maviswanczyk and one is maviswanczyk.758mil with a remark beneath announcing “Giving Away Money.”
Some of the accounts are focused on faculty scholars by way of pledging assist with books and tuition, Wilk mentioned.
There are different scams tied to the lottery winner as smartly. On Tuesday Wilk mentioned any person contacted him with a sob tale that was once obviously faux and requested him to touch Wanczyk soliciting for cash for them. Wilk mentioned he refused and hung up.
