Best friends of over 50 years share $2M lottery prize
Two Canadian girls who’ve been friends for greater than 5 many years received a $2 million lottery prize, the British Columbia Lottery introduced.
Susan Hook and Martha McCallum determined to “go in on” a BC/49 lottery price tag in combination closing week, and shortly found out they have been $2 million richer after matching all six numbers within the August 17, 2019 draw.
“I was on my coffee break and decided to check the ticket,” stated McCallum. “I thought ‘what do all the zeros mean? And I went back to work, believe it or not.”
Both Hook and McCallum are widows, and the life-changing win got here on an afternoon this is most often tricky and lifted their spirits.
“I am not a drinker but I said ‘I need a glass of wine’ [when we found out], and we cried together,” stated Hook. “Yesterday was the anniversary of my husband’s passing and it is quite something to know that we became millionaires on that day. I dread that day every year.”
The two friends plan to nonetheless are living in combination, and are eager about what this win will carry to their lives. They are anticipated to fulfil lifelong commute goals and to make their lives “comfortable, but not flashy”.
